Articles hang from the roofs of prehistoric caves in cold regions. Prehistoric man in his halucinataory state was know to paint bats and other dangly objects like stalagtites and iceicles to make the room a little more chilled maaan.

Years later art critics have come across the caves and rather than do a propper job have coined the name Article - for a peice of "art-that-hangs-a-little-like-an-iceicle" or "work-of-great-genius-only-available-in-wittypedia".

Some folks in later years would hijack the terms Article and encyclopedia for their own brand of boring factual coppycatting.
