Hitler was a much misunderstood leader - mostly because he mumbled everything and his moustache, although narrow, was very long and covered most of his mouth thus making him incredibly difficult to lip read and rendering him incomprehesible.
An example of this would be the speech he gave at the Nuremburg rally where he believed he held the audience in rapture when in fact they were all standing in silence straining to hear what he was saying and then bursting out into cheers whenever they understood a word
(nb at the rally itself Hitler narrowly lost out to Colin McCrae).
