Irony

Like washing upy and hoovery, irony has long been done solely by women and it is only within the last 50 years or so that it has become more usual for men to take an equal share in this pursuit. Originally intended as a method of putting creases in sparrows wings it soon became a way of speaking in a code that, to this day, most Americans cannot understand.
Examples of irony can be found in the Alanis Morrisette song ironic - but only because it is actually ironic that non of the things in the song are the slightest bit ironic.
