Nectar of the gods

From Wittypedia

A phrase oft associated with beer, this is actually, as the name suggests, a nectar that is produced by the many worker gods up in heaven.

Basically, the Queen god sends them off to extract sugar from the heads of people in churches and temples (easier to harvest when people are distracted by prayer) which they then attach to the coarse hairs on the outside of their thighs for transportation.

They then store it in a huge hive before the farmer god comes and steals it all - this is, incidentally, believed to be the origin of the myth of heaven being all cloudy as the farmer uses smoke to flush out all the worker gods and get to the nectar without being stung by their huge barbed stingers.

This is then processed to make the honey of the gods which tastes nice but curiously is far less notorious than the nectar of the gods even though it is more widely available to the general public.

Authours Commentry:: 'Some think the exclusivity itself is what makes it so well known - although others think whoever wrote it is just getting bees and gods mixed up... which is plainly ridiculous despite bees capacity for smiting.'
