Watch

From Wittypedia

Watches were thought of as mostly decorative wrist adornments worn only by the very rich and a small Norwegian fisherman named Olaf. This was until the invention of time when all the numbers and little hands and such suddenly made a lot more sense (except for Olaf's as his was made from seaweed and barnacles).

They became a lot more popular once digital was invented and, although earlier digital watches were a failier due to being the size, shape, colour and texture of a large house brick, they soon became the second most popular thing to own after skin.

Their popularity was thought to be the result of extensive market research into how lazy people are but was in fact mostly due to the popular soap 'Dynasty' where every week someone was shown either wearing a watch or standing near a clock.

The next evolution in watch design is thought to be wigital - which is entirely identical to digital but with a small widget inside.
